Job summary

A leading law firm in Montreal is seeking a motivated Legal Assistant to support a team of litigation lawyers. This role entails managing legal documents and preparing for litigation while ensuring excellent communication and organizational skills in both French and English. A diploma in Legal Administration and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience are required for this position. A hybrid work model with 4 days in-office and 1 remote is offered.

Responsibilities
  • Manage legal documents and case files
  • Draft and revise correspondence, memos, letters, and legal documents
  • Open and update files using IManage software
  • Maintain accurate client data
  • Conduct corporate registry searches and conflict checks
  • Manage lawyers’ calendars, including deadlines and client meetings
  • Assist with litigation preparation (procedure books, exhibits, authorities, etc.)
  • Enter time and manage expense accounts
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Legal Administration or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and advanced skills in word processing, proofreading, and editing
  • Ability to follow up on files and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
