Position Overview

The mandate of the Capital Management team within the Group Actuarial area is to oversee the Company's global capital management policy and, in partnership with other key stakeholders, ensure that the company maintains its strong capital position within the industry and efficiently meets regulatory, rating agency and other capital expectations.

The position of Actuarial Associate, Stress Testing will play a key role in various stress testing functions and projects within Capital Management. The stress testing team is responsible for quarterly LICAT economic sensitivities, projection of LICAT capital, annual FCT analysis, ad hoc stress testing, internal target capital ratio(s) and the quarterly LICAT forecast.

Position Responsibilities
  • Quarterly LICAT economic sensitivities
  • Projection of LICAT capital components for the annual business plan
  • Modelling and reporting of financial impacts for the annual Financial Condition Testing (FCT) analysis, and year-over-year movement analysis
  • Modelling and reporting for ad hoc stress testing analysis
  • Preparation of presentational material for Head of Capital Management
  • Preparation of capital inputs for Own Risk Solvency Assessment
  • Provide capital support to other areas
  • Collaborate on LICAT FCT and forecast process improvements and changes
Required Qualifications
  • ASA/ACIA qualification, or actively working towards the designations
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of relevant actuarial work experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as ability to process large amounts of information and summarize effectively
  • Ability to manage time effectively and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
  • Detailed oriented with high level of accuracy
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong professional judgement, ability to assess risks as well as to effectively identify opportunities for improved efficiency
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at multiple levels
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals in Group Finance and other areas of the Company
  • Familiarity with SQL, VBA, data visualization tools such as macros and Power Query in Excel an asset

Salary range is expected to be between

$62,450.00 CAD - $112,450.00 CAD
