Overview

What is the opportunity?
This role provides critical actuarial advisory support to the portfolio directors in addressing issues related to key product lines including Segregated Fund (Segfund) and Participating (PAR) products. The successful candidate will lead investigations into product-related issues, drive resolutions, and play a significant role in shaping and executing broader strategic initiatives as they evolve.

Responsibilities
  • Lead collaboration with the portfolio directors and cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve issues related to key product lines such as Segfund and PAR product, including but not limited to CSM emergence, profitability, and AXIS model enhancement
  • Provide actuarial analysis and insights to support resolution of identified product issues
  • Drive strategic initiatives that improve product sustainability and ensure alignment with regulatory and policyholder expectations
  • Conduct scenario analysis, modeling, and sensitivity testing using GGY AXIS and other actuarial tools
  • Summarize findings and recommendations into clear, actionable presentations for senior leadership
  • Lead and contribute to ad-hoc projects as the strategic program evolves
What will you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Undergraduate degree or minimum 4 years’ professional experience in Actuarial Science
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17, preferably including the Variable Fee Approach (VFA) and its application to relevant insurance products
  • Extensive experience with GGY AXIS and familiarity with insurance product modeling and valuation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical results to non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail for complex problem solving and investigative work
Nice-to-have
  • Experience with segregated fund or participating (PAR) products and related actuarial considerations is preferred
  • FSA or close to FSA designation
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional collaboration and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
