Our mission is to create sustainable and essential infrastructure that fosters growth, development, and safety for communities across Canada.

The Opportunity

The Opportunity: Accounting & Payroll Specialist

Rapid-Span is seeking a detail-driven, adaptable Accounting & Payroll Specialist to support a full range of accounting responsibilities in a collaborative, cross-trained finance team. This role offers the chance to build hands-on expertise in payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, while also contributing to reporting, reconciliations, and continuous process improvements.

You’ll join a team that values accuracy, reliability, and efficiency. We’re modernizing our systems and processes—including automation of time and attendance and AP—creating opportunities to improve how we work. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, and want to grow in a stable, long-term role, we want to hear from you.

Why Join Us?
  • Team-Based Culture: Cross-training, mutual support, and pitching in when needed so no one is ever stuck.
  • Modernization & Growth: Ongoing improvements in payroll, AR/AP, and reporting systems with opportunities for skill-building.
  • Supportive Environment: Positive, solutions-focused team where everyone is respected and encouraged to make things better.
  • Competitive Compensation: Comprehensive package including competitive salary.
  • Work-Life Balance: Full-time hours (8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) with some flexibility when needed. This is an on-site role with no hybrid or remote option.
  • Location: Our office in the Spallumcheen, BC Industrial Park.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly payroll using Clarity
  • Manage accounts payable: invoice entry, coding, vendor communication, and payment preparation
  • Support accounts receivable: posting payments, preparing customer statements, and following up on outstanding balances
  • Prepare internal financial reports and recurring reconciliations
  • Assist with automation and improvements to time and attendance, AP, and AR systems
  • Provide general accounting support and collaborate with team members on shared responsibilities
  • Ensure timely remittances, filings, and completion of month-end and year-end tasks
  • Provide back-up support for other admin and finance team members as needed
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, including payroll and AP/AR
  • Payroll processing experience required; PCP designation is an asset but not required
  • Experience with Clarity or D365 is a bonus, but not required—we’ll train the right person
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and eagerness to learn new systems
  • Strong Excel skills (sorting, filtering, formulas, and reporting)
  • High level of accuracy, dependability, and attention to detail
  • A self-starter with a collaborative mindset and a drive to improve processes
  • Comfortable in a fully on-site work setting
