PRIDE Seeds is currently seeking a focused and self‑motivated individual to join our dynamic team as Accountant I.

Position Summary

PRIDE Seeds is seeking an Accountant I who is highly organized and detail oriented. The PRIDE Seeds Accountant I is responsible for compiling financial data and reporting through verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling accounting transactions and resolving discrepancies. This role will be required to partner with company managers to ensure compliance and accuracy of our books and records. You will work closely with other Accounting Department staff to ensure the general ledger and accounting entries are posted correctly, timely and completely. This role will maintain computerized posting and reconciling systems of various general ledger accounts, preparation or periodic financial and regulatory reports, and leasing accounts. Record financial statements to ensure accurate recording of transactions and reporting of financial matters for assisting management in monitoring and controlling operations.

Position reports to PRIDE Seeds Vice President, Finance & Administration.

Responsibilities
SAP Implementation Coordination
  • Assist in SAP implementation, ensuring alignment with accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT, consultants, and cross‑functional teams to define system specifications and workflows.
  • Support data migration, testing, training, and go‑live activities.
  • Identify and resolve system‑related issues during and after implementation.
General Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Complete general ledger activities, month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE/IFRS and internal controls.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Prepare month‑end account reconciliations for AgReliant Genetics Inc and all inter‑divisional accounts and investigate any unusual or inappropriate reconciling items.
  • Prepare reports and forms required for Sales Tax and income tax relative to non‑wage payments to individuals or companies.
  • Responsible for the valuation of all inventory products and dollar reconciliations. Perform various checks and balances with perpetual inventory and investigate any unusual item.
  • Work cross‑functionally with and support our business partners by providing financial insights and relevant reporting.
Product Costing & Inventory Accounting
  • Coordinate and analyze product costing processes, including standard cost updates and variance analysis.
  • Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost reporting.
Audit & Tax Support
  • Assist in the preparation of working papers and documentation for external audits.

Duties may be amended by the Company as may be reasonably required.

Education / Experience
  • University degree in accounting.
  • CPA designation (CPA Canada) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting or financial systems roles.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP (S/4HANA or ECC) implementation or major ERP systems is a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian GAAP (ASPE or IFRS), tax compliance, and audit processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, and relationship/team building skills.
  • Demonstrated self‑motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation.
  • Knowledge of the seed industry preferred.
  • Ability to successfully work in a fast‑paced and changing environment.
