About the Role:

As a CBRE Accountant, you will be responsible for accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger.


This job is part of the Controlling job function. They are responsible for the Management of the organization's financial controls and the preparation of financial reports for management and shareholders.



What You'll Do:


  • Answer questions regarding various accounting issues and reports.

  • Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and various other accounting statements or financial reports.

  • Review the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.

  • Evaluate various accounting variances, reports, and records. Make recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.

  • Maintain, record, and reconcile billings and accounts receivables for small to medium‑sized clients, markets, or accounts.

  • Create month‑end accounting entries. Reconcile discrepancies and posts to the general ledger.

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations. Check transactions from the subsystem to ensure data is accurately sent.

  • Examine financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and fundamentals.

  • Have some knowledge of standard principles with limited practical experience in applying them.

  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.

  • Impact the quality of own work.

  • Work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

  • Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.

  • Liaise with property managers, leasing, operations, and central accounting to resolve inquiries and improve processes.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and property‑level variance analysis.

  • Prepare and maintain audit‑ready workpapers and documentation; support internal and external audits.

  • Participate in system implementations and process‑improvement initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned.



What You'll Need:


  • University’s Bachelor’s Degree preferred with up to 3 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • 1-3 years of property or commercial real estate accounting experience (preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and real‑estate accounting treatments (preferred).

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data validation).

  • Experience with automated accounting systems and property accounting modules.

  • Hands‑on experience with Yardi (GL maintenance, tenant billing, reporting).

  • Familiarity with Yardi P2P or similar vendor invoice workflows.

  • Exposure to other ERPs or financial systems.

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present financials to non‑finance stakeholders.

  • Customer‑service orientation toward internal stakeholders and property operations.

  • Ability to manage multiple properties and meet deadlines under competing priorities.

  • Collaborative team player with a continuous‑improvement mindset.

  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.

  • Experience with analysing information and standard practices to make judgments.

  • In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.

  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial‑related calculations.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the accountant position is $60,000 annually and the maximum salary for the lead accountant position is $72,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
