Overview

Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Student Winter 2026 placement with a start date of January 2026 and end date of April 2026.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this 4-month Student position you must either be returning to school after the work term end-date of April 2026 or, if you are not returning to school (i.e., graduating in December 2025/April 2026), you require the work term as a mandatory component to graduate successfully. Ensure that you meet these eligibility requirements before applying; candidates who are found ineligible will not be considered.

What is the opportunity?

Corporate Client Group – Finance (CCGF) acts as mid-market Corporate Banking for RBC’s Canadian Banking business unit and plays a key role in meeting Corporate Client Group objectives through structuring, delivery and management of bank debt for a targeted customer base. The CCG team targets loan origination in the Canadian mid-market, including large Canadian subsidiaries of foreign multinationals, private and small-cap public Canadian companies. CCG is responsible for meeting annual targets for loan-derived revenues and returns and providing advice to partners on optimizing lending in relation to RBC relationship goals.

Initiative and responsibility are key attributes, along with credit analysis, researching, analyzing, and preparing materials that support deal structuring, client and internal presentations, and risk approval processes of the CCGF team. Flexibility and enthusiasm are needed to support and run various initiatives and projects in other CCG markets across Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Part of a national team of CCGF underwriters committed to delivering quality credit products to RBC clients and targets.
  • Support CCG bankers to structure, deliver, close, and monitor syndicated and bi-lateral loan transactions
  • Assist with preparation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients for corporate loans (acquisition loans, bridge loans, term loans, revolving credit facilities).
  • Support CCGF team credit submissions, including research, analysis, financial modelling and due diligence as part of transaction processes. The role will allow candidates to use and develop complex financial modelling skills, credit structuring and documentation skills used in corporate and commercial lending.
  • Support CCGF team with transaction documentation and coordination with clients and legal counsel
  • Assist with loan portfolio management, client strategies and related administrative duties
  • Engage with RBC partners and functions including Group Risk Management, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Capital Markets, Treasury Management, Specialized Financing, Personal Banking, and others
  • Liaise with back office functions connected to closing and funding, wires, payments, settlements, etc.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Finance
  • Strong quantitative, financial modeling, and analytical skills with ability to analyze company financial statements
  • Basic knowledge of credit, credit metrics, and credit structuring
  • Strong skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ability to source data/research
  • Professional oral and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail in both written and financial work
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize work, and multi-task on multiple projects
  • Well organized and able to set priorities and devote appropriate attention to each assignment
