Job summary
An IT company in Canoas, Brazil, is looking for a Backend Engineer to design and implement backend services using Kotlin and Spring Boot. The role involves building REST APIs and collaborating with various teams to deliver high-quality features. Ideal candidates should have strong expertise in Kotlin and Spring Boot, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills in English. This is a CLT employment position with a working schedule following the Portugal time zone.
Qualifications
- Solid experience with Kotlin and/or Spring Boot.
- Understanding of REST API design and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL including schema design and optimization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and good English communication.

- Design and implement backend services using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain REST APIs consumed by our applications.
- Work with PostgreSQL databases, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and QA teams to deliver high-quality features.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices.
- Contribute to system design and architecture discussions.
- Solid experience with Kotlin and / or Spring Boot.
- Understanding of REST API design and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, queries, optimization).
- Familiarity with Git and CI / CD workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good English communication skills (written and spoken).
- Deep expertise with Kotlin and Spring Boot, including complex system design.
- Proven experience designing scalable backend architectures.
- Strong focus on performance, security, and reliability.
- Ability to mentor junior / mid engineers and lead technical initiatives.
- Experience with monitoring and observability practices.
- Good English communication skills (written and spoken).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
- CLT employment type;
