About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer highly specialized in event‑driven architectures to build and operate large‑scale, real‑time data platforms using Java / Spring Boot , Apache Kafka , and Apache Flink .

The core focus of this role is to design and deliver scalable, resilient, and high‑performance distributed systems while ensuring reliability in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of event‑driven microservices using Java / Spring Boot, with Kafka as the primary messaging backbone.
• Build and optimize Kafka producers, consumers, and stream‑processing applications , as well as real‑time data pipelines and analytics using Apache Flink (DataStream API, Table / SQL API, and stateful processing).
• Collaborate closely with solution architects, platform engineers, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and production‑ready deployments across the Kafka + Flink + microservices ecosystem.
• Own performance, reliability, and scalability in production through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, cluster tuning, backpressure mitigation, checkpoint / savepoint management, and horizontal scaling strategies.
• Enforce security and compliance standards across all data pipelines, including encryption (in‑flight / at‑rest), RBAC, auditing, data masking, and secure schema evolution.
• Drive code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision‑making; champion best practices and continuous improvement.
• Maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation (architecture diagrams, design decisions, runbooks, and operational guides).

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Java backend development.
• Strong, hands‑on experience with Spring Boot microservices in production .
• Deep expertise in Apache Kafka .
• Proven production‑level experience with Apache Flink .
• Advanced English

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) .
• Knowledge of additional streaming or data‑processing frameworks.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as ELK Stack .
• Conversational Spanish.
