Position

The successful candidate for the Senior Director, Counsel, Legal TLM - Catalyze360 (Transactions) will be a core member of Lilly’s legal team, helping drive the company’s mission and serving as a trusted advisor and leader to the Catalyze360 team. The role offers the opportunity to contribute immediately to Lilly’s growth and success. Primary Responsibilities

This position provides legal support for the Lilly Gateway Labs and ExploR&D capabilities of Catalyze360 and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the structuring, drafting, negotiating and counseling on transactions (including licenses and collaborations, R&D services, equity investments, divestitures and other transactions).
  • Serve as both a legal and business partner in structuring and implementing new Catalyze360 offerings and transaction models.
  • Develop agreement templates and playbooks and lead training for the Catalyze360 team.
  • Identify and resolve critical legal and business issues throughout the lifecycle of Catalyze360 agreements, including post-transaction alliance management support.
  • Partner with the Catalyze360 team and other internal stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and support the growth of the Catalyze360 organization.
  • Exercise excellent judgment to influence and drive decision-making.
  • Cultivate and contribute to the development of a high-performance transactions legal team and a collaborative culture with colleagues in the legal department and other key functions.
  • Demonstrate a service-oriented approach to advising internal client groups.
  • Serve as a recognized source of innovative ideas in complex areas of law, business, or technology with respect to transactional matters.
Basic Requirements
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the bar in at least one state.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of legal experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating sophisticated transactions in either a law firm or in-house, or a combination of both.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating complex transaction agreements in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry (including CRO and CDMO agreements).
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas for this role.

Actual compensation will depend on education, experience, skills, and location. The anticipated wage for this position is $177,000 - $259,600. Full-time employees are eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program, including 401(k), pension, medical/dental/vision, flexible spending accounts, life and death benefits, and various time-off benefits. Lilly reserves the right to amend compensation and benefits programs as needed.
