The role will provide technical support for local laboratory work, with a primary focus on formulation development to support customer projects, the promotion of Vantage™ products, and customer events. Responsibilities include preparing reports and applying Vantage™ raw materials in formulations, with the goal of providing practical tools for the sales force and supporting strategic customers in the region.

The Research Scientist – Formulation & Application will be a science-driven project leader, responsible for planning, managing, supporting, and executing formulation and product development projects in LATAM, with a special emphasis on Brazil. This role will work closely with global R&D and Marketing teams, ideating, identifying, and developing new products for market launch, contributing to the growth of Vantage Personal Care in LATAM and globally.

Key responsibilities include developing formulations for major customers and evaluating their performance to demonstrate the benefits of our technologies, developing new personal care applications, and creating market-relevant concepts that promote Vantage™ technologies through marketing campaigns, customer events, trade shows, and industry activities. In addition, this role will design and perform (or coordinate) the necessary performance tests to demonstrate and reinforce the value proposition of Vantage™ technologies.

Position Scope

The position will be located in Brasil.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Development of new formulations to highlight ingredients from Vantage portfolio and their added values in formulation (skin care, hair care, makeup, and toiletries applications) according to internal and external needs, such as Marketing campaigns, trade shows, customers events and needs etc.
  • Support in tests for performance studies and sensorial tests for costumer projects.
  • Contribute to new product development projects to improve VPC product portfolio, including discovering new products based on market trends and customers feedback, assessing technical feasibility, developing the new product, designing and conducting needed performance tests to improve the product design, and finalizing product specs, etc.
  • Monitor stability testing of formulations: organoleptic and physicochemical analyses.
  • Qualification of Vantage ingredients and issue the report with the results.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory (respect for SOPs, raw materials and packaging inventory management…).
  • Use knowledge of routine laboratory safety procedures, SDS’s and interpretations of hazards/toxicity data to perform all laboratory work in accordance with the written safety manual and site safety policies.
  • Be a steward for safety and continually drive awareness to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Understand formulation procedures and technologies and incorporate this understanding into applications that add value to customer products.
  • Maintain accurate records of all laboratory work and research in accordance with generally accepted laboratory principles.
  • Manage the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Education & Experience:

Education: Bachelor of Chemistry, Pharmacobiology, Cosmetics Technology, Pharmacy or related areas, linked to sciences (Chemistry).

Experience: between 5 to 8 years’ working experience in the cosmetics and chemical industry.
