A dynamic U.S.-based accounting firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their remote team. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of US-based accounting experience, be fluent in English, and possess strong Excel skills. This role involves leading the month-end close process, preparing financial statements, and managing a team of junior accountants. TGG Accounting is growing, and we're looking for an Accounting Manager to join our remote team.
The Accounting Manager (AM) is an expert responsible for overseeing financial accounting and transaction processing.
They serve as ambassadors of TGG Way™ and US GAAP accounting standards.
Accounting Managers provide 100% accurate and complete financial statements to Controllers.
They play a key role in training and mentoring staff (both internal and external) on internal controls, systems, and processes following the TGG Way™.
Additionally, Accounting Managers act as a bridge between TGG and the client, ensuring continuous communication, implementing processes, addressing client needs, and relaying key information to other team members.
Lead the month-end close process, ensuring adherence to the timeline and checklist.
Review final profit & loss (P&L) scrub and approve journal entries prepared by staff.
Ensure the accuracy of the balance sheet workbook, including spot-checking source document filing.
Review and update financial notes, charts, graphs, and footnotes to ensure alignment with KPIs and executive summaries.
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial reports through variance analysis.
Review staff-prepared financial statements and supporting schedules.
Ensure financial accuracy and consistency across all reports and KPIs.
Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts for real estate projects, including capital expenditures and operating costs.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support cost-saving initiatives and revenue growth.
Update and maintain cash flow forecasts regularly.
Prepare and submit sales tax returns with controller approval.
Support the preparation and submission of personal property tax filings, reviewed by the controller.
Calculate monthly sales tax payments and submit them for controller review and remittance.
Manage recurring weekly accounting processes as outlined by the controller.
Review customer invoicing, vendor bills, and process payments.
Perform chart of accounts reviews and reclassify contributions/distributions to retained earnings as needed.
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering development in real estate accounting practices.
Collaborate with departments including property management, acquisitions, and finance to ensure effective financial operations and decision-making.
Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and provide actionable recommendations to clients.
Maintain strong financial integrity, proactively troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Refine financial models and improve data structure in Excel.
Manage tasks using Asana and track time entries in Bizinta with detailed descriptions.
Organize and manage the accounting email inbox to ensure timely and accurate handling of financial documents.
5+ years of accounting experience, US based experience or familiarity required.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Education: Accounting or Finance degree.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is a plus and Advanced Excel skills is required (complex formulas, data structuring, and basic financial modeling).
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving mindset.
Ability to prepare financial statements, carry out a month-end process, record and review journal entries in all accounts, and perform account reconciliations.
Experience with US based clients and exposure to US GAAP.
US Working hours 9am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a remote team.
