A leading pharmaceutical company in São Paulo is seeking an Accounting Lead to manage financial compliance and reporting. This position ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data while working closely with stakeholders to support decision-making processes. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, over 5 years of relevant experience, and expertise in US GAAP and IFRS. Proficiency with SAP is essential, and experience in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable. This is a full-time position with a focus on process improvements and efficient operations.

Your Role

This job is part of Finance Shared Services (FSS) organization, which was established as one of the key elements of the new operating model for AbbVie to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for all international affiliates.

The FSS Accounting Lead plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with finance and accounting policies, coordination of month end close processes and ensuring integrity and accuracy of entity financials.

This position works closely with several stakeholders across the organization to support financial decision‑making process by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data.

You will be responsible for
  • Perform monthly and quarterly closing routines.
  • Preparation of reports and KPI's to support the business for budgeting, LBE and decision making.
  • Support the various areas of the company in queries and problem solving.
  • Responsible for the execution of accounting activities involving classification, analysis, accounting in general.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations based on internal and external policies (USGAAP and IFRS), leading process improvements, and adjusting probable differences.
  • Work closely with personnel in all departments to ensure compliance with company accounting and operational guidelines as well as GAAP.
  • Intercompany (calculation and accounting of inventories in transit, as well as differences payable and receivable)
  • Fixed Assets
  • Support corporate obligations preparation and submission (SPED ECD, ECF, Transfer Price, Taxes, DF's, BACEN, and other auxiliary reports)
  • Lease (US-GAAP and IFRS)
  • Financial Instruments IFRS vs FISCAL
  • Support the preparation of local financial statements (IFRS)
  • Assist in audit preparation and all other projects assigned.
  • Work in close partnership with the Finance Director and Controller to ensure integrity of the ledgers and full compliance with Accounting Policies.
  • Propose and implement initiatives aimed to improve efficiency and quality of the process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 5 plus years of relevant experience in accounting, planning and financial analysis.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry would be an asset.
  • Know how to work in an environment with a high volume of demands and deadlines.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues and cross‑functional (other areas), enabling better performance.
  • The individual must be self‑motivated, have strong planning and execution skills, and be able to work independently.
