Position Overview
The Therapist will provide psychological therapy, counseling, and mental health support to individuals, couples, and families in an outpatient setting. Unlike psychiatrists, therapists focus on talk-based interventions and behavioral therapies, helping clients develop coping strategies, manage emotional difficulties, and improve overall mental health.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological assessments and intake sessions to understand clients needs.
- Deliver individual therapy, couples therapy, and/or family counseling using evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma therapy, mindfulness-based therapy).
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each clients goals.
- Provide psychoeducation to clients and families to enhance understanding of mental health.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists (when medication is part of treatment) and other clinicians to ensure holistic care.
- Track client progress, document sessions, and maintain strict confidentiality in line with DHA and clinic standards.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions where appropriate.
- Participate in team case discussions and contribute to a multidisciplinary care approach.
- Stay current with new developments in therapy techniques and mental health research.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification:
- Masters degree or Doctorate (PhD/PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or Psychotherapy.
- Specialized training or certification in therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-focused therapy).
Licensing:
- Must hold a valid license to practice psychology/counseling in home country.
- Must be eligible for a Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Clinical Psychologist or Counseling Psychologist License.
- Preference for candidates with active DHA license, DHA eligibility letter, or transferable HAAD/MOH license.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-5 years of post-qualification therapy experience (outpatient or private practice preferred).
- Experience treating common mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and trauma.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent therapeutic skills and ability to build strong rapport with clients.
- Strong communication, empathy, and active listening abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team.
- High ethical standards and commitment to client confidentiality.
- Proficiency in English (Arabic is a plus).
