Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UAE seeks an experienced Commissioning Engineer to plan and execute testing and commissioning activities for electrical and instrumentation systems. The ideal candidate has over 6 years of experience in the oil and gas or manufacturing sectors and possesses a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with industry standards, troubleshooting technical issues, and coordinating with project teams for smooth commissioning processes.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in testing and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of commissioning procedures and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading P&IDs, schematics, and control diagrams.

Job Description
  • Plan and execute testing and commissioning activities for electrical and instrumentation systems as per project requirements.

  • Perform functional tests, system integration tests, loop checks, and site acceptance tests (SAT).

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to electrical and instrumentation systems during testing and commissioning.

  • Ensure that all systems are tested in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed test reports, commissioning records, and documentation.

  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients to facilitate smooth commissioning processes.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users or operators on system functionality and operation.

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) guidelines during all commissioning activities.

  • Conduct final inspections and verification of electrical and instrumentation equipment functionality before handover.

  • Recommend modifications or improvements based on test results and operational feedback.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related Engineering field.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in testing and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems in industries such as oil & gas, power plants, or manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and commissioning procedures for electrical and instrumentation systems.

  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and control diagrams.

  • Hands‑on experience with testing tools, instruments, and software used in electrical and instrumentation commissioning processes.

  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with various stakeholders.

  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Additional Information
  • Certification in commissioning processes (e.g., Certified Commissioning Professional – CCP) is a plus.

  • Experience with PLC/SCADA systems, DCS, control systems, or industrial automation is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of hazardous area classifications, ATEX standards, and intrinsically safe instrumentation is beneficial.
