Job description

Demonstrates integration of the unique knowledge and technical skills required for the specialty as per the role specific clinical practice definition in Appendix 1 and the SEHA competency and training matrix.

Technical skills required for this area as outlined in Clinical Competency and Training Matrix and/or the department/unit Scope of Service.

EMERGENCY / URGENT CARE

Emergency / UCC nurses are specialized professionals advanced trained to provide rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for patients of all age groups presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, or life‑threatening conditions in the Emergency Department / Urgent Care Center. They are proficient and possess high skills in triage, emergency response, clinical assessment, and critical decision‑making under pressure. They handle and manage diverse cases including trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, respiratory distress, poisoning, paediatric, psychiatric and obstetric emergencies. Emergency nurses play a key role in disaster preparedness, mass casualty response, infection prevention and control protocols, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.

MEDICAL-EMERGENCY

Ensure and provide continuity of acute care for adult patients who have been stabilized, assessed, and received initial treatment in the Emergency Department (ED).

Deliver both emergency and inpatient care services tailored to the needs of the adult population.
