We have an opportunity for Rig Electrician - COMPEX

Role: Rig Electrician - COMPEX

Location: UAE

Tenure: Till March 2026 (May be extendable)

Rotation: 28/28 (Only working days will be paid)

Prerequisites / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (or relevant work experience in place of formal education)
  • Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates
  • Knowledge of technical calculations required for electrical operation of the drilling unit
  • Basic computer skills
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform daily inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Comply with the permit to work and isolation systems
  • Carry out periodic maintenance according to the Rig Maintenance System guidelines and coordinate maintenance with the supervisor and other department heads
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all power generation and distribution equipment, including generators, engine controls, SCRs, switchgears, and transformers
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of general rig equipment such as HVAC systems, refrigeration plants, communication systems, and lighting
  • Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of drilling equipment, including Driller’s console, DC drilling motors and auxiliaries, Top Drive System, draw works, and mud pumps
  • Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of marine equipment, including auxiliaries, pumps, control panels, and cranes
  • Install new equipment as required, including electrical wiring, fixtures, and junction boxes
  • Assist in performing and interpreting power calculations, power factor, insulation tests, and positive relay tests as required
  • Study and understand electrical schematics as required
  • Maintain an adequate supply of spares to fulfill maintenance requirements and inform the Chief Electrician when reordering is needed
  • Inform the supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig
  • Assist with the implementation of outstanding recommendations from audits as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities, or rig management
  • Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete
  • Assist in supplying information for maintenance and repair budget
  • Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via the direct supervisor to the Field Support Group
  • Mentor, develop, and train crew members to prepare them for higher job responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide personnel in their On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs
QHSE
  • Apply all available company security tools and methodologies in all tasks, whether working alone or in teams
  • Participate in all company QHSE initiatives
  • Follow company safety policies and maintain a hazard-free workspace
  • Properly stow tools and equipment after use to prevent accidents
  • Engage in emergency drills and respond to incidents per the station bill
  • Report hazards, incidents, or abnormal conditions to supervisors
  • Attend safety meetings and participate in pre-tour briefings
