A prestigious university in Sharjah is seeking faculty members for its Mechanical Engineering Department. Department of Mechanical Engineering (MCE) in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate or full professor level commencing in Fall Semester 2026.
The successful candidate for the regular position will be expected to establish a high-level, active research program supported by internal and external funding sources. The visiting faculty positions are primarily focused on teaching. The visiting position is a one-year renewable contract.
The applicant is required to have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and show evidence of a significant teaching portfolio. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research are expected from the candidates. In addition, experience in the American model of higher education is highly desirable.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has approximately 330 undergraduates, 26 graduate students, 15 full-time faculty and 5 lab instructors. The department offers BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering. The department is also involved in the offering of multidisciplinary programs such as the BS in Intelligent Systems and Mechatronics Engineering, MS in Mechatronics Engineering, MS in Biomedical Engineering, PhD in Material Science and Engineering, and PhD in Bioscience and Bioengineering.
AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah (about 15 km from Dubai). AUS is an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational university, serving more than 5,700 students. AUS is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates. AUS has been accredited in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since June 2004. The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering offered by the College of Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org/.
