The Department of Mechanical Engineering at a leading university in Sharjah invites applications for faculty positions at various levels. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and active research, supporting a diverse academic community while focusing on thermofluids, design, materials, and dynamics.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (MCE) in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level commencing in Fall Semester 2026. The successful candidate for the regular position will be expected to establish a high-level, active research program supported by internal and external funding sources. The visiting faculty positions are primarily focused on teaching, and these are offered on a one-year renewable contract.
The applicant is required to have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and demonstrate a significant teaching portfolio. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is expected. Experience with the American model of higher education is highly desirable.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has approximately 240 undergraduates, 26 graduate students, 12 full-time faculty, and 4 lab instructors. It offers BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering and is involved in multidisciplinary programs such as the BS in Intelligent Systems and Mechatronics Engineering, MS in Mechatronics Engineering, MS in Biomedical Engineering, PhD in Material Science and Engineering, and PhD in Bioscience and Bioengineering.
AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah, about 15 km from Dubai. It is an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational university serving over 5,700 students. More information can be found here. AUS is licensed and its programs are accredited by the UAE's Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Affairs Division and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the USA. The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is accredited by ABET (https://www.abet.org/).
