The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the research group of Dr. Joy Tannous. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting‑edge research projects focused on biomass upgrading, free radical reactions, and catalytic processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to conduct independent and collaborative research in a multidisciplinary academic environment, with strong emphasis on experimental work, advanced spectroscopy, and scholarly publication.

Key responsibilities

• Designing and executing experimental research related to catalysis, reaction mechanisms, and material characterization.
• Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment while ensuring a safe working environment.
• Analyzing experimental data and interpreting results independently.
• Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting findings at scientific conferences.
• Assisting in the supervision and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.
• Contributing to research proposal writing and the development of new research directions within the group.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience with Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
