Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct a systematic review of Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) variants in terms of modeling and solution techniques.
  • Develop scalable models for multiple VRP variants incorporating battery, charging infrastructure, and real-time constraints.
  • Implement exact and metaheuristic methods (e.g., branch and bound, and adaptive large neighborhood search) for large-scale VRPs.
  • Test the performance of the proposed models and solution algorithms using extended versions of standard benchmark test instances available in the literature.
  • Facilitate the integration of AI and ML models to predict energy consumption and optimal charging schedules for electric vehicles.
  • Assist with the write-up and dissemination of findings in the form of journal publications.
Qualifications And Skills Required
  • A PhD in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, or a closely related field.
  • A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proven expertise in mathematical modeling and the development of solution algorithms (exact and metaheuristics) to address complex optimization problems.
  • Strong programming skills, with C/C++ preferred and considered a strong asset. Experience with Python or other programming languages is also highly valued.
Technical Skills
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and spoken) to effectively disseminate research outcomes.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML techniques and experience integrating these techniques in the context of large-scale optimization problems.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
  • Industrial experience is an asset.
