Summary
This position is affiliated with Cincinnati’s Children’s hospital in the USA. The Consultant in Pediatric Gastroenterology provides expert care in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive system disorders. The role covers a broad range of conditions, including liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and functional gastrointestinal disorders. Education/Qualification
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT), Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland,
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR), Portugal, Spain, or Italy
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
License
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatic disorders, and functional GI disorders.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP, and endoscopic ultrasound where applicable.
- Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans for complex gastroenterology cases.
- Collaborate with hepatologists, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists to provide integrated patient care.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services, including consultations and follow-up care.
- Contribute to hospital-based multidisciplinary clinics and specialized programs.
- Supervise and mentor residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.
- Participate in clinical research, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate medical records in line with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development of gastroenterology services to align with international best practices.
