The Network and Security Engineer will provide technical expertise in maintaining and enhancing the network infrastructure and cybersecurity posture of King's College Hospital Dubai and its satellite sites across the UAE.
This dual-role position combines network infrastructure management with security operations, ensuring systems operate reliably, efficiently, and securely. The engineer will configure and monitor network devices, manage security controls, and implement technologies that protect digital assets while maintaining optimal network performance.
Working closely with senior infrastructure and security teams, the post holder will troubleshoot complex network and security issues, support incident response activities, and participate in infrastructure improvement projects. The role requires both proactive maintenance and reactive problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Monitor and optimize network performance across all hospital sites
- Maintain comprehensive network and security documentation including topology diagrams, IP schemes, and configuration standards
- Participate in network capacity planning and bandwidth management
- Manage LAN/WAN connectivity and VPN solutions across all hospital locations
- Implement firmware updates and patch management for network devices
Security Operations & Monitoring
- Monitor security systems including intrusion detection/prevention systems and endpoint protection solutions
- Detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents under senior team guidance
- Participate in security event correlation and analysis using SIEM tools
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for network and security operations
- Monitor network traffic for anomalies and potential security threats
Security Infrastructure Management
- Administer and maintain security systems including security gateways and access control mechanisms
- Configure and test security appliances and software solutions
- Maintain and update security policies, firewall rules, and access control lists (ACLs)
- Participate in vulnerability management and remediation activities
- Manage antivirus, EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), and NAC (Network Access Control) solutions
- Support security assessments and penetration testing activities
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and update network and security standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements for network and security infrastructure
- Create and update network and security architecture diagrams using Microsoft Visio
- Document network changes, security incidents, and lessons learned
- Maintain accurate asset inventory for network and security devices
Technical Support & Collaboration
- Provide technical support for network and security-related requests from end users and IT teams
- Contribute to network and security awareness training initiatives
Qualifications
Education
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Possesses certifications such -
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) - Required or highly desirable
- CompTIA Network+ - Required or highly desirable
- CompTIA Security+ - Required or highly desirable
- CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) - Preferred
- CCSA (Check Point Certified Security Administrator) - Preferred
- Additional vendor certifications such as Fortinet NSE, CCNP, or similar are a plus
Experience
- Experience in healthcare IT environment is advantageous but not mandatory
- Exposure to security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management
- Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, VPNs)
- Hands-on experience with network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and security technologies
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in network administration, IT infrastructure, or cybersecurity functions
