Overview

Librarian position in Sharjah, UAE. Open to foreign applicants. Salary: 1700 per month.

The Librarian will be responsible for organizing and managing the library, developing strategies to improve collections and services, and supporting patrons in locating resources and using library technology.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the library's collections by cataloging new materials, maintaining existing materials, and removing outdated materials
  • Provide assistance to patrons in finding resources or using library technology
  • Instruct patrons on the use of library resources
  • Develop strategies to improve the library's collections and services
  • Oversee all aspects of the library's operations including budgeting, staff management, circulation services, etc.
  • Plan special programs such as workshops or book clubs
  • Ensure that library policies are followed
  • Maintain records such as circulation statistics
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
  • At least one year of experience working in a library setting
  • Knowledge of cataloging systems (e.g., MARC21)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook) and other computer technologies
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to multitask effectively
