Role Overview

The Junior BIM Specialist (reporting to Senior Manager) will support the Building Information Modelling (BIM) efforts for our India office ensuring alignment with Smith Tait’s global standards. This role requires BIM expertise, excellent coordination skills and a collaborative mindset to drive project success locally and in partnership with our Dubai team, ensuring that the outputs align with the intended design vision.

BIM Leadership & Strategy
  • Implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and standards across projects.
  • Champion BIM best practices workflows and software tools (Revit, Navisworks, etc.).
  • Ensure consistent model delivery across multiple projects with a focus on quality, efficiency and compliance.
BIM Coordination
  • Manage multidisciplinary BIM coordination including clash detection and resolution.
  • Liaise with lighting designers, architects, engineers and contractors to integrate BIM models.
  • Support coordination meetings and model reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
Model Development & Quality Control
  • Create review and audit detailed BIM models to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with project specifications & BEP.
  • Perform model health checks and enforce quality standards as per BEP.
  • Support the creation of intelligent families, templates and content libraries.
Technical Support & Training
  • Provide BIM training, mentoring and support to junior staff in the India office.
  • Troubleshoot software or workflow issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Prepare documentation for BIM training or technical training.
Collaboration & Reporting
  • Coordinate deliverables and model handovers with the Dubai design team.
  • Prepare BIM progress reports, clash matrices and project status updates for internal and client review.
  • Ensure clear documentation and communication of BIM processes and updates.
Essential Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 1‑2 years of hands‑on BIM experience.
  • Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Possess a deep understanding of lighting systems in Revit and the latest industry trends.
  • Strong understanding of CAD/BIM standards (ISO 19650, AIA, BS 1192 or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of basic Gulf drawing standards or best practices.
  • Proven track record of successful BIM implementation on medium to large‑scale commercial or hospitality projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead coordination processes, solve problems and meet deadlines under pressure.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior exposure to lighting design or MEP coordination within BIM workflows.
  • Familiarity with Dynamo scripting or other BIM‑automation tools.
  • Experience working across geographically dispersed teams especially between India and the Middle East.
  • Understanding of IFC scheme as well as Cobie deliverables.
