Job summary

A leading power company in Abu Dhabi is seeking a dedicated HR Officer to manage employee relations, oversee payroll activities, and support recruitment efforts with a focus on Emiratization. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, strong knowledge of UAE Labor Law, and experience with performance management and employee relations. The role requires proficiency in Oracle HRMS and excellent communication skills.

Safety Culture
  • Follow all safety guidelines within the power plant and head office as instructed by the HSE Team, including wearing the required PPE when needed
  • Perform the required emergency response actions as needed during any time of emergency
  • Attend internal HSE trainings per year, as well as complete any online HSE required courses
Performance Management
  • To assist HR Manager in maintaining a performance management system alongside department managers to ensure that department objectives are aligned with company overall objectives.
  • To assist in establishing employee KPI’s for all departments and to provide the tools necessary to track KPI’s.
  • To assist in making post end of year analysis of the department performance results and strategize on how to strengthen the weaknesses.
  • To assist in updating and maintain employee job descriptions to accurately reflect expected KPI’s.
  • To actively research and implement incentive programs to support the employee performance management system.
Recruitment
  • Support the HR Manager in the recruitment plans for targeted business units to ensure the selection of the right candidates within the approved budget, ensuring that Emiratization is a priority and main focus in recruitment.
  • Identify positions needed for succession planning in order to ensure continuity; work with department managers to find suitable candidates for succession.
Payroll
  • Job Holder ensures that all payroll activities, including overtime, are carried out in a timely manner and that employees are paid all compensation and allowances as per their employment contract.
  • Provides monthly and ad hoc reports to support finance department; compiles and saves all relevant data which affect compensation and benefits.
  • To process all correspondence in relation to payroll considered for every external recruitment, including regular pay, promotions, annual leaves and benefits – ensuring that all payroll activities adhere to Shams Policies and Procedures as well as UAE Labor Law.
Employee Relations
  • The Job Holder supports the HR Manager to manage grievances and concerns relating to an employee’s personal circumstances which relate or affect their job duties.
  • Supports department managers in dealing with behavioral or performance issues relating to employees, complaints filed, grievances, etc. Strictly follows HR Policies in handling employee relations matters and follows through until closure of case.
  • Conducts various pre-employment activities (medical insurance, orientation and induction, visa for employee and family members, ID cards, etc).
  • Manages employees expectations in terms of code of conduct and disciplinary measures, maintains the exit process of employees.
Miscellaneous Tasks related to the role
  • To assist in employee relations – actively working with employees to understand grievances or other needs and communicating those with management to find solutions.
  • To upkeep and maintain records in Oracle for employees.
  • To act as a communicator between the HR Department and all Shams employees.
  • To upkeep and maintain Shams HR Policies and Procedures in a timely and relevant context.
  • Support the HR Manager all personnel and employee-related activities including (but not limited to) recruitment, induction upon hiring, training of Shams policies and procedures, attendance, government relations, health insurance, annual and sick leaves and personal circumstances which may affect daily work routines.
  • To document all relevant and necessary employee documents for company and employee referral, as well as for auditing purposes, ensuring that all required documents are systematically filed in an organized and confidential manner.

To educate all new and existing employees on Shams Policies and Procedures and to train all employees on a continuous basis on how to use the Oracle HRMS in order to self-manage their personal profiles in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
