Job title: Services Principal Consultant

Location: Abu Dhabi Hybrid (50% of the working time)

Role:

This senior engineering leadership role involves guiding cross-functional teams through the full project lifecycle from initial concept to final delivery. The successful candidate will work with the Project Manager to ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet high quality standards. The role provides technical expertise in process design, equipment selection, and system integration, leveraging tools such as process optimization, simulation, and predictive analytics. Extensive knowledge in AI technologies and how the AVEVA portfolio can emerge with it is mandatory. The candidate will mentor team members, collaborate with clients and contractors, and drive continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead cross-functional engineering teams by providing technical direction.
• Mentor team members to ensure alignment with project requirements and company standards.
• Oversee projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within the budget, and meet quality standards.
• Deliver technical knowledge in areas such as process design, equipment selection and system integration.
• Knowledge and experience with tools like Process Optimisation, Process Simulation, Predictive analytics, and applications integration with different data platforms.
• Identify potential issues and implement mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors and internal teams to ensure successful project communication and coordination.
• Perform economic and technical analysis of requirements and provide efficient solutions.
• Develop and lead discussions on value realisation, KPI/metrics to project against baselines.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of long-term solution roadmaps and technology architecture.
• Define and develop processes/guidelines for integrated solutions including AVEVA and customers’ in-house applications, including third-party AI tools.
• Leverage data analytics and digital tools to improve decision-making and operations.
• Advise on strategies for operational improvement, maintenance efficiencies and asset integrity.
• Conduct technical discussions with clients to understand their needs and present the value proposition.
• Foster continuous improvement by exploring opportunities for process efficiency, cost reduction and technological advancement.

Skills & Qualifications:

Ideal Skills

• Bachelors or masters degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Computer Science).
• Extensive experience (15 years) in process tools like Real-Time Optimisation (RTO) and Advanced Process Control (APC).
• Proven track record in the oil and gas industry with significant experience leading complex and large-scale projects in the Middle East.
• Thorough understanding of engineering principles, design practices and industry standards.
• Excellent leadership abilities and clear communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge in developing energy balances and energy efficiency calculations for various processes.
• Knowledge in Energy Management Systems and understanding of applicable requirements and standards.
• Ability to solve complex problems by applying analytical techniques and innovative solutions.
• Experience with project management frameworks such as Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites/facilities.
