Role & responsibilities

As a Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for leading and driving the overall marketing strategy, developing teams, managing large budgets, and aligning marketing initiatives with broader business objectives. The role is both strategic and hands-on, as you’ll work with senior leadership to create and execute marketing plans while overseeing day-to-day operations.

1. Strategic Marketing Leadership
  • Develop and Lead Marketing Strategy: Define and lead the overall marketing strategy to drive brand awareness, lead generation, customer retention, and revenue growth.
  • Brand Strategy: Own and evolve the brand's positioning, identity, and messaging across all channels, ensuring consistency and relevance to target markets.
  • Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Lead market research initiatives, competitive analysis, and customer insights gathering to inform decision-making.
  • Customer Journey & Segmentation: Define customer segments, optimize customer journeys, and ensure that all touchpoints deliver personalized and relevant experiences.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Lead go-to-market planning for new products, features, or services, aligning marketing, sales, and product teams.
2. Campaign Management & Execution
  • Campaign Development: Design and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns (digital, print, events, etc.) that support the business's goals and KPIs.
  • Digital Marketing Oversight: Direct the digital marketing strategy, including SEO, SEM, content marketing, social media, and paid advertising.
  • Lead Generation: Develop strategies to increase inbound leads through content, social media, email marketing, and demand-generation efforts.
  • Budget Management: Oversee and manage the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation across channels and campaigns.
  • Performance Metrics: Set up KPIs, track performance, and optimize campaigns based on results (conversion rates, ROI, etc.).
3. Team Leadership and Development
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a diverse team of marketers, including content creators, designers, social media managers, SEO specialists, and other marketing professionals.
  • Recruitment & Talent Development: Hire and develop top talent, managing team performance and fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with sales, product, finance, and operations teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of marketing initiatives.
  • Training & Coaching: Provide continuous coaching, professional development opportunities, and skills training for team members.
4. Digital and Technology Expertise
  • MarTech Stack: Oversee the marketing technology stack, ensuring that tools and platforms (e.g., CRM, marketing automation, analytics, CMS) are integrated and optimized for campaign execution.
  • Automation & CRM: Utilize marketing automation platforms like HubSpot, Marketo, or Salesforce to streamline lead nurturing, segmentation, and reporting.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data and analytics to guide decisions, continuously refining strategies based on customer behavior and marketing performance.
  • Digital Transformation: Drive the adoption of new digital marketing trends, from AI to chatbots and personalization strategies.
5. Stakeholder & Executive Management
  • Reporting & Analysis: Report on the performance of marketing activities to executive leadership, providing data-driven insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Executive Briefings: Regularly present strategic marketing plans and results to the C-suite, board members, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Brand Stewardship: Protect and enhance the company’s brand image and reputation across all external communications, partnerships, and public relations.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Build and maintain relationships with marketing agencies, contractors, influencers, and partners to ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
6. Innovation & Adaptation
  • Trendspotting: Stay ahead of emerging trends in marketing, technology, and consumer behavior to ensure that the company remains competitive.
  • Creative Direction: Oversee the creative direction of marketing materials, ensuring that all content is engaging, aligned with brand guidelines, and optimized for audience engagement.
  • Crisis Management: Take charge of brand messaging during crises, ensuring the right tone and strategy is employed to maintain brand reputation.
  • Event Planning & Execution: Organize and manage large-scale marketing events, conferences, webinars, and other customer-facing initiatives to build brand visibility.

Preferred candidate profile
1. Education
  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree or MBA (preferably with a focus in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or Strategy) is highly beneficial but not always required.
  • Certifications in Digital Marketing, SEO/SEM, Project Management (PMP), and Marketing Automation (HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce) are highly preferred.
2. Professional Experience
  • 6 to 8 years of marketing experience, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership role, such as Marketing Manager, Marketing Lead, or Head of Marketing.
  • Proven track record of driving growth through strategic marketing campaigns, digital marketing, and customer acquisition.
  • Experience managing large marketing teams (5-20+ people) and handling cross-functional collaboration across teams like sales, product, and design.
  • Solid understanding of B2B/B2C marketing dynamics, customer segmentation, and integrated marketing channels.
  • Hands-on experience with digital marketing platforms (SEO, PPC, content marketing, social media) and marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, HubSpot, Salesforce).
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives at once while meeting deadlines and staying within budget.
3. Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with marketing automation tools like HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of Google Analytics, SEO/SEM, and A/B testing to optimize campaign performance.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce, Zoho CRM, or HubSpot.
  • Ability to work with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or Magento.
  • Expertise in social media advertising (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn Ads) and email marketing strategies.
4. Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Ability to lead, inspire, and mentor marketing teams to achieve shared goals.
