Job Purpose
- Support the Compliance manager in planning, implementing and maintaining framework for the Regulatory Compliance.
- Support the Compliance manager in enhancing the awareness of the Regulatory Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering across the business areas.
- Support the Compliance manager in monitoring wire transfers against international blacklists.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Checking the side SafeWatch (i.e. regulatory/sanctions blacklist) for all payments alerts in the system and escalating all exact matches to the compliance manager for investigation and action.
- Scanning the customer database against the regulatory/sanctions blacklist and escalating all the exact matches to the compliance manager for investigation and action.
- Monitoring of transactions via alerts generated in the Oracle system.
- Assist in addressing any staff queries regarding compliance functions, procedures & policies and raising any non-compliance issue to the compliance manager.
- Assist in providing staff training.
- Assist in performing surveillance and monitoring activities of internal practices and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Support the development of policies and procedures in accordance with best practice and regulatory requirements for other departments within the branch.
- Developing, updating and maintaining the Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Combating Financing of Terrorism (CFT) policy and procedures in line with any changes made to existing laws.
- Provide response (as Maker) to CBUAE queries via IEMS, goAML and CIR.
- Assist in preparing reports to be submitted to regulatory / law enforcement authorities.
- Provide support in maintaining and implementing procedures for detecting, monitoring and reporting suspicious transactions, and applies an intensified and ongoing scrutiny over any higher risk accounts in compliance with local laws and regulations as well as NBK Group standards.
- Conduct independent compliance testing based on the RCM requirements and raise findings to the Compliance matters.
- Provide support on the FATCA/CRS annual reporting.
- Assist in updating NBK-UAE Compliance manual and code of conduct in accordance with guidelines issued by local and internal regulatory authorities.
- Coordination with Internal and External auditors as required.
- Support the development of the regulatory compliance matrix and checklists in accordance with the compliance policy.
- Review the updates in the CBUAE regulations and update the RCM accordingly.
- Coordinate with the respective business divisions on matters relating to CFT such as providing guidance on international sanctions, management policies relating to CFT and sensitive countries.
- Performing any additional related duties of compliance.
- To stay abreast of the latest regulations and updates issued by the regulatory authorities.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree
- 3-5 years professional experience
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken in English and Arabic

Preference is given to candidates in the UAE with UAE banking or financial services experience.
