Black & Grey HR is recruiting for a globally recognized logistics services company. Our client is seeking a Chief Engineer who will ensure that vessels are operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory standards. The role involves technical oversight, maintenance planning, and collaboration with vessel crews to uphold operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure vessel operations adhere to marine best practices, company/client procedures, and local regulations.
- Maintain compliance with class, statutory, and client standards.
- Provide technical guidance to Vessel Masters and Chief Engineers as needed.
- Plan and oversee safe maintenance and repair operations.
- Operate, monitor, and assess engine performance and systems.
- Manage fuel, ballast, and electrical/electronic control equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify machinery faults promptly.
- Lead the marine engineering department, ensuring proper maintenance of all onboard equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts, fuel, and oil.
- Support the reporting manager with assigned tasks.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 45001 Health, Safety, and Environment policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering
- Valid STCW Certification Reg. III/2 (Second Engineer Officer/COC)
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Engineer in the shipping/logistics industry
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive maintenance planning
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
