Job Description for Welfare Assistant

All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years’ employment history.

Core purposes:
  • Ensure children are safe and well supervised on the bus
  • Ensure the school is spotlessly clean at all times
Key duties include:
  • Work as a bus monitor at the start and end of the day – transporting children to and from school safely.
  • Manage pupil behaviour in a positive manner and be a positive role model in line with The Aquila Way on behaviour e.g. giving golden tickets, acknowledging children who have made good choices, etc.
  • Keep all areas of the school spotlessly clean.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times – never discuss any aspect of the work of the school outside of school colleagues.
  • Maintain stock levels and keep account of consumables.

In addition, all staff are required to carry out any tasks required by the school or the regional office to facilitate the smooth day to day running of the school.

To be line managed by the facilities manager and welfare supervisor.

Hours of work – 9 hours per day from Monday to Friday, plus 4 hours on Sunday.

Holidays – 30 working days paid leave and pro-rata for each uncompleted year. The annual leave year runs from September to August. Leave can be taken after successful completion of the probation period and only during school breaks.
