Responsibilities
Job Purpose

Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the SENCO/Class Teacher/Key Stage Leader/Vice Principal.

Main Duties
  • Provide support for individual pupils / groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in a range of activities during the school day and to support their social, emotional, and physical well-being.
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for pupils / groups of pupils and help monitor their progress.
  • Support pupils with additional support needs e.g., emotional and behavioural difficulties, and help develop their social skills.
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
  • Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
  • Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.
  • Support the aims of the school; comply with health and safety requirements, relevant legislation, and school policies.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Attend team and staff meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with other professionals e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, as necessary.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the principal.
Specific Duties
  • Provide academic assistance, including group and individual instruction.
  • Demonstrate instructional activities, monitor and correct pupils' work, and keep pupils on task.
  • Praise and report on pupils' progress, organize materials, and supervise pupils in various locations.
  • Participate in developing behavior policies and promote pupils' self-esteem.
  • Discipline pupils in line with school policy.
