Job description

An Assistant Restaurant Manager at Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts is responsible for managing restaurant operations to deliver an excellent guest experience, training staff, and working within budgeted guidelines. This role oversees all Food and Beverage operations to ensure high standards of quality and service.

What will I be doing

As an Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will collaborate with the Restaurant Manager and culinary teams to maintain top-tier service while adhering to budgetary guidelines and controlling costs. You will manage, train, and develop team members. Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Overseeing day-to-day operations of the Lobby Lounge restaurant, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and high-quality standards.
  2. Managing food cost controls to contribute to Food and Beverage revenue.
  3. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  4. Leading, training, and inspiring a multicultural Food & Beverage team, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and innovation.
  5. Conducting regular performance reviews and supporting team members' growth and development.
  6. Ensuring guest satisfaction through exceptional service.
  7. Collaborating with the Culinary team to customize experiences for special events and themed dining.
  8. Recruiting, managing, training, and developing the Restaurant team.
  9. Managing guest queries promptly and efficiently.
  10. Working within budget guidelines related to Food and Payroll.
  11. Driving sales to maximize revenue.
  12. Developing menus with other F&B team members.
  13. Conducting monthly stock takes.
  14. Incentivizing team members to maximize sales and revenue.
  15. Setting departmental targets, work schedules, budgets, policies, and procedures.
  16. Evaluating guest satisfaction levels and focusing on continuous improvement.
  17. Conducting communication meetings and generating post-meeting minutes.
  18. Being environmentally conscious.
  19. Assisting other departments as needed and maintaining good working relationships.
  20. Complying with hotel security, fire regulations, and health and safety legislation.

A successful Assistant Restaurant Manager at Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts should embody the following qualities and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a high-end or luxury hotel, fine dining, lobby lounge, or similar setting.
  • Proven leadership experience managing a food & beverage service team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep knowledge of food & beverage operations, including menu planning, inventory control, cost management, with a focus on Asian cuisine and beverages.
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage trends, guest preferences, and cultural sensitivity in culinary practices.
  • Formal training or certifications in food & beverage services.
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills.
  • Creativity and passion for service innovation.
  • Ability to manage stress effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, days, afternoons, and evenings.
