Job summary

A technology company based in Sharjah seeks an experienced Application Server Administrator to manage IBM and Redhat application servers. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years within the banking sector. Responsibilities include server installation and configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with security guidelines. Strong shell scripting skills and knowledge of AIX, Linux, or Windows are required to support critical banking applications.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant Application server administration experience, preferably 3 years in the banking industry.
• Strong shell/bash scripting skills.
• Strong operating systems skills (preferred: AIX, Linux, Windows).
• Certified IBM Application server Administrator.
• Experience in Application server maintenance activities.
• Thorough understanding and experience of change management procedures.
• Experience working on bank’s critical systems such as Core Banking / Digital Banking.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Install and set up Application servers and IBM products.
• Configure application servers and clusters.
• Perform maintenance activities and patching.
• Deploy application files and resources.
• Troubleshoot issues in production/testing systems.
• Create installation and SOP documents.
• Collaborate with technical teams and provide updates.

Job description

Primary Responsibilities

• Installation / Setup: Installation of Application servers (IBM WebSphere Application Server / Redhat JBOSS EAP / IBM HTTP Server / Redhat JBOSS Webservers), IBM MQ, IBM App Connect Enterprise.
• Configuring Servers: Application servers Cluster setups, creating and configuring resources.
• Maintenance Activities: IBM WAS / JBOSS EAP / IBM MQ / IBM ACE patching with latest fix packs, interim fixes, or update patches.
• Deployments: Deploying EAR / WAR / JAR files in Application servers and modifying resources in Application EAR’s after deployments.
• Troubleshooting and Analyzing: Having strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities to fix issues reported in Prod / Test systems.
• Documentation: Creating installation documents, other product‑related documents and SOP documents.
• Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with cross‑technical teams, including application support teams, subject matter experts, and IT professionals, to ensure successful implementation and adoption of application products. Communicating effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns or feedback.
• Continuous Learning and Improvement: Staying updated on the latest versions of Application servers, Messaging servers, Integration servers, tools, and best practices. Continuously seeking opportunities to enhance skills and improve automation processes.
• Compliance and Security: Ensuring that application servers are implemented with provided security guidelines by the bank and that products deployed are compliant with product license entitlements.
• Support and Training: Providing support to end‑users and stakeholders, including troubleshooting issues, answering questions, and delivering training sessions to promote user adoption and proficiency in using automation tools.

Experience

• Having 5 years of relevant Application server administration experience, preferably 3 years in the banking industry.
• Strong shell/bash scripting skills.
• Strong operating systems skills (preferred: AIX, Linux, Windows).
• Certified IBM Application server Administrator.
• Experience in Application server maintenance activities.
• Thorough understanding and experience of change management procedures.
• Experience working on bank’s critical systems such as Core Banking / Digital Banking.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and stretch to meet timelines.
