Job summary

A well-established building contractor in Gauteng is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will prepare and manage budgets, monitor contract compliance, and mentor junior staff. A minimum of 10 years' construction experience is required, alongside a BTech in Quantity Surveying or equivalent. The role offers negotiable salary based on experience, catering to large-scale residential, commercial, or industrial projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of JBCC and other relevant construction contracts.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale residential, commercial or industrial projects.

Overview

RPO Recruitments client a well‑established building contractor based in Gauteng is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. The company specialises in a range of residential commercial and industrial building projects and is known for delivering quality workmanship and on‑time project completion.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans and cash flows
  • Measure and value work done on site (including subcontractor valuations)
  • Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities (BOQs) and procurement schedules
  • Manage cost reporting and ensure accurate financial forecasting
  • Monitor contract compliance and manage contractual claims and variations
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to validate work completed
  • Assist with final account preparation and project close‑out
  • Mentor and support junior QS staff where applicable
Qualifications
  • BTech in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in building construction (contractor‑side)
  • Strong understanding of JBCC and other relevant construction contracts
  • Proven experience managing large‑scale residential, commercial or industrial projects
  • Proficiency in QS software (e.g. CCS Candy, BuildSmart or similar)
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Valid driver’s licence and own transport
  • Experience with fast‑paced or high‑spec construction projects
  • Strong leadership and decision‑making abilities
