Full Professor
Minimum Requirements
- PhD/Doctorate in Architecture or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years' teaching and professional experience, with base qualifications in Architecture.
- At least 10 years teaching and professional experience.
- Sustained research track record of publications in accredited journals.
- Sustained track record of supervision of postgraduate students.
- Evidence of external funding.
- Evidence of collaborative linkages.
- Evidence of external engagement.
- Able to register with SACAP.
Summary of Duties
- Teaching, Learning and Assessments of Modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Architecture.
- Supervise postgraduate students.
- Co-ordination of academic programmes and undertake research activities in Architecture.
- Leadership or participation in community engagement projects.
- Undertaking administrative and/or any other reasonable duties as delegated.
Associate Professor
Minimum Requirements
- A PhD / Doctorate qualification in Architecture.
- A Bachelor's Degree or Honours Degree or Masters Degree in Architecture.
- At least 7 years teaching and professional experience.
- Evidence of publication track record in peer reviewed journals.
- Evidence of completed postgraduate supervision.
- Evidence of external engagement.
- Able to register with SACAP.
Summary of Duties
- Teaching, Learning and Assessments of Modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Architecture.
- Supervise postgraduate students.
- Co-ordination of academic programmes and undertake research activities in Architecture.
- Leadership or participation in community engagement projects.
- Undertaking administrative and/or any other reasonable duties as delegated.
Head of Department
Five years fixed contract, renewable for one additional term based on performance.
Minimum Requirements
- A PhD in the relevant discipline.
- Relevance in this context will depend on the cluster of academic programmes located in the department.
- Five years' experience in higher education and academic leadership, including scholarship leadership and scholarship.
Summary of Duties
- Dealing with student queries and complaints regarding the Department/Programme.
- Managing and supervising staff, including the allocation of leave management, enhancing staff relations and building a team towards a student‑centred department, attending to matters such as study leave, grievances, disputes, training & development, appointment of part‑time and replacement programmes and projects, enhancing Faculty projects, postgraduate recruitment and supervision, Siyaphumelela, FYSE, orientation and graduation.
- Providing leadership to the department with respect to teaching & learning and research.
