Product / UX Designer - SC Cleared (Contract)

We are seeking an immediate hire for an SC-Cleared UX / Product Designer on a 4-month contract, operating outside IR35, to work on UK defence projects with a close-knit cross‑functional team of engineers and researchers.

This contract is open to remote UK-based applicants, offering a competitive day rate commensurate with experience.

The Contract Details

Contract Length: 4 months (potential to extend)

Engagement: Outside IR35

Location: Remote, UK-based or hybrid from our Belfast office

Clearance: Must hold an active SC (Security Check) clearance

Reporting: Directly to Head of Product and Design

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end design process for defence decision‑support application.

Own entire design lifecycle from discovery to UI prototypes.

Create wireframes, flows, journey maps, and interactive prototypes.

Run design validations, iterate rapidly based on feedback.

Collaborate with engineering, data, product, and research teams.

Translate research and technical insight into clear design direction.

Partner with SMEs, stakeholders, users, and delivery lead; present design decisions.

Maintain and evolve the design system, working with the design system team.

Use modern design tools (Figma) and prototyping practices.

Required Experience & Attributes

Active UK Security Clearance (SC) or above.

5+ years of hands‑on product design experience, ideally in complex enterprise or B2B environments.

Domain knowledge in regulated industries, Defence, Government, or complex platforms.

Comfortable across multiple fidelity levels—from conceptual to detailed UI.

Experience in Agile teams, with shared ownership of product scope and delivery.

Pragmatic mindset, prioritising effective solutions without compromising user outcomes.

Strong design communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
