Job summary

A technical college in South Africa is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer for the 2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering and an Advanced Teaching Diploma in TVET. Responsibilities include teaching N4–N6 Mechanical subjects, facilitating student development, and maintaining performance records. Strong leadership and teaching skills are essential. This position is based on-site at the Springfield campus with a salary of R270,498.00 plus benefits.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CNC programming and operation.
  • Ability to teach N4–N6 Mechanical and related subjects.

Requirements
  • Matric or equivalent
  • Recognised and relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (REQV 13)
  • Advanced Teaching Diploma in TVET / Post Graduate Diploma TVET / Diploma in Secondary or Higher Education
  • Valid SACE registration (not provisional registration)
  • Teaching experience will be an added advantage
  • Computer Numerical Control Programming will be an added advantage
  • Sound subject knowledge and work-related applications
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Be able to teach N4–N6 Mechanical and related subjects. Knowledge of CNC programming and operation· Passion for teaching and learning
  • Customer care; leadership and management skills; assertiveness; good record keeping and administrative skills; be a team player, have passion for learning and teaching; as well as good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Assess and evaluate student progress
  • Monitor student attendance register
  • Maintain student attendance and performance records
  • Creating classroom environment conducive to teaching and learning
  • Provide feedback to students regarding their performance and progress
  • Liaise with Senior Lecturers, Head of Division and Student Support Services officials in providing support interventions to students
  • Invigilation duties
  • Attend to uploading and management of LMS subject related portal.
