Qualifications

  • Matric certificate required.
  • Technical tertiary qualification or a Production Management diploma is preferred.
  • 8 years in manufacturing technical environment is necessary.
  • 5 years in general management and managing shifts is needed.

Job description
Overview

Main job purpose: The purpose of the team leader is to manage the shift performance of the laminates team in the plant where shifts are worked. The performance is measured by the amount of output relative to the expected and planned output, the losses incurred during the shift, the safety of the employees and general level of satisfaction of the employees.

Main objective
  • Responsible for the shift performance/productivity of the production team by managing the team and resources (including time administration, PPE, and Raw Materials) to achieve production targets for the shift.
  • Monitor the amount of output relative to expected and planned output and losses incurred during production by capturing hourly production and quality reports in order the make adjustments to meet the set targets.
  • Enforce safety measures and compliance to the OHS act by knowing and training employees in accordance with the current standard operating procedures and risk assessments in order to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Build skill capacity by identifying and meeting development needs, creating individual development plans and managing the plan to improve the flexibility of the operators on the shop floor.
  • Drive world class manufacturing standards by applying Visual Performance Management, 5 S (cleanliness of the working environment), teamwork and focused improvement projects in order to optimise production efficiency.
  • To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance management and disciplinary action and that staff are trained and coached.
  • Ensure distribution processes are adhered to that support on-time, in-full delivery of good quality products in line with customer requirements.
