Head of Technicians

The Head of Technicians leads the technical field operations for South Africa’s official TV audience measurement currency. This role oversees installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of metering equipment in panel households, ensuring compliance with NIQ‑GfK standards, POPIA regulations, and operational SLAs. The position ensures technical excellence, vendor coordination, and high‑quality data capture to support accurate audience measurement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Leadership: Manage and mentor internal or external technician teams responsible for installing and maintaining metering devices.
  2. Installation & Maintenance: Oversee scheduling and execution of installations; ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
  3. Quality Assurance: Implement QC checks on equipment functionality and data capture; resolve technical issues promptly.
  4. Vendor Coordination: Liaise with equipment suppliers and installation service providers; monitor SLA compliance and performance.
  5. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to POPIA and NIQ‑GfK guidelines; maintain accurate technical documentation for audits.
  6. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for technical process optimization and automation.
Qualifications & Experience

8+ years in technical field operations, preferably in audience measurement or telecom; 3+ years in leadership. Strong knowledge of metering technologies, installation protocols, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with South African TV ecosystem and POPIA compliance. Experience in managing vendor relationships and SLAs.
