Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk Manager (ERM) to support the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the organisation’s enterprise-wide risk management framework. This role plays a critical part in ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed, monitored, mitigated, and reported across the business, enabling informed decision-making and long-term sustainability.
The successful candidate will work closely with Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors to embed a strong risk culture and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best-practice risk management standards.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Risk Framework & Governance
- Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework aligned to organisational strategy.
- Facilitate enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes.
- Ensure the adoption of risk policies, procedures, and controls in line with internationally recognised risk management standards.
Risk Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor, analyse, and report on key risk exposures and emerging risks.
- Develop, maintain, and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc risk reports for Executive Management and the Board.
Operational Risk Management
- Conduct Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), scenario analyses, and incident reviews.
- Support business units in developing and testing effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure operational risks are properly documented, escalated, and managed in line with policy.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with regulators where required, including the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate risk-related data and documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Culture
- Partner with cross-functional teams to assess the risk impact of new initiatives and projects.
- Facilitate risk workshops and training sessions to promote enterprise-wide risk awareness.
- Champion a proactive, risk-aware culture across all levels of the organisation.
Executive Support
- Provide clear analysis, insights, and practical recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (required).
- Chartered Accountant (CA)(SA) designation advantageous.
- Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, or MBA preferred.
- Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CIA are advantageous.
Experience
- 8–10 years’ experience in enterprise risk management, internal audit, or compliance within a financial services environment.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a managerial or leadership role.
- Proven experience liaising with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).
- Experience working with ERM tools and risk management systems is preferred.
