Job description

Keep critical infrastructure running, compliant, and reliable. Lead planned maintenance, rapid response, and continuous improvement across a high-demand site.

This role is accountable for ensuring infrastructure services are maintained and operational to agreed service standards, with a strong focus on asset availability, business continuity, and proactive risk reduction. You’ll manage planned maintenance execution, oversee reactive work, investigate equipment or plant failures to determine root cause, and identify assets nearing end of life for capital planning consideration.

You’ll also provide specialist technical guidance to Facilities and Project teams, approve specifications for new plant and equipment in line with engineering standards and good practice, and ensure incident management protocols are followed so redundancy systems remain fully operational. A key part of the role is leading and developing a technical team while maintaining professional, effective relationships with client representatives.

Our client is a well-established, standards-driven organisation operating complex building and infrastructure environments where uptime, safety, and quality of workmanship are non-negotiable.

What You’ll Do
  • Plan and execute planned maintenance on time, in line with site requirements

  • Drive availability and reliability of regional assets and buildings

  • Manage breakdowns and planned outages, ensuring effective coordination and communication

  • Lead investigations into equipment failure, complete root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions

  • Oversee reactive work to ensure quality, specification compliance, and closure against work orders

  • Apply incident management procedures to mitigate risk and maintain operational continuity

  • Provide technical input, supervision, and engineering guidance to Facilities and Project Managers

  • Specify and approve proposals for new plant and equipment, including supply and installation requirements

  • Build strong working relationships with client stakeholders

  • Lead people development, support vacancies management, and contribute to employment equity objectives

What You Bring
  • Grade 12 and an N6 Diploma in Engineering

  • Code B driver’s licence

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical or Mechanical engineering

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in facilities management

  • Strong technical capability with proven leadership and team management skills

  • Solid understanding of maintenance engineering, physical asset management, and maintenance tactics

  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and general safety practices

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and SAP exposure/knowledge

  • Advantage: Certified Data Centre Professional

What Success Looks Like
  • Planned maintenance completed on schedule with minimal disruption

  • High asset uptime, reduced repeat failures, and improved reliability trends

  • Incidents handled swiftly with clear reporting and effective follow-through

  • Reactive work controlled, prioritised, and completed to spec and quality standards

  • Clear, evidence-based recommendations for upgrades and capital investment planning

  • A capable, motivated team with improving performance and skills depth
