Job summary

A prominent university in Johannesburg seeks a Design Engineer to lead the technical design, sizing, and documentation of compressor systems and HVAC products. The ideal candidate will have 2–6 years of experience in thermal or mechanical design and strong knowledge of heat-transfer principles and relevant design software. Job description

The Design Engineer is responsible for the technical design, sizing, and documentation of compressor systems, coils, and HVAC products. Working closely with Sales, this role ensures that all proposed heat‑exchanger solutions are accurate, cost‑effective, and compliant with customer requirements and industry standards.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Eng/B.Tech in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 2–6 years’ experience in thermal or mechanical design
  • Strong knowledge of heat‑transfer and mechanical design principles
  • Experience with heat‑exchanger design software (e.g., Unilab, Coil Designer)
  • Familiarity with relevant design codes (ASME, SANS, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities
  • Collaborative and detail‑oriented mindset
