Job summary

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Grade 10. Basic knowledge of the Legislative framework and processes related to cleaning. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate well with people at different levels. Ability to organize and plan. Must be self-motivated and be prepared to rotate to other units. Ability to act with tact and insight. Knowledge of Batho Pele Principle. Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work independently in a team. Must be prepared to work shifts which includes fixed, afterhours, night duty, weekends, and public holiday. Applicant should be prepared to undergo medical surveillance.

Job Description
  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, buffing, and operating cleaning machines
  • Clean walls, windows, doors, window frames, and all bathroom areas, including tiles, showers, basins, and lockers
  • Dust, wash, and polish furniture and fittings
  • Clean corridors, theatres, X-ray rooms, sluice rooms, kitchens, public toilets, offices, clinics, entrances, stairs, fire escapes, side walls, lifts, passages, waiting areas, equipment, and carpets
  • Remove medical and general waste, clean bins, and ensure proper waste segregation
  • Adhere to healthcare waste management policies and infection control guidelines
  • Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment
  • Defrost and clean unit refrigerators
  • Refill soap containers and keep cleaning trolleys clean and organised
  • Complete daily cleaning activities on the cleaning control list
  • Adhere to all cleaning service policies, procedures, and timelines
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Perform additional duties as allocated by the supervisor
Training and Compliance
  • Participate in continuous training and development programmes
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as approved by the supervisor
  • Comply with the Performance Management and Development System, including contracting, reviews, and final assessments
