Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng / BSc) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years civil engineering experience within the mining industry (open-pit and / or underground experience beneficial).
• Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of mining-related civil infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, surface water and stormwater management, tailings and waste facility design, and haul road development.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as Auto CAD, Civil 3 D, and MS Projects.
• Knowledge of mining legislation, engineering standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng) or progress toward registration is advantageous.
• Strong project management capabilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and review civil engineering designs for mining infrastructure including roads, stormwater systems, platforms, drainage structures, water management solutions, and plant‑related civils.
• Manage conceptual, feasibility, and detailed design stages for civil engineering components of mining projects.
• Oversee construction and contractor activities to ensure compliance with design standards, safety regulations, and project schedules.
• Conduct geotechnical assessments and collaborate with mining, geology, and environmental teams to integrate civil solutions across mine planning and operations.
• Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, cost estimates, project schedules, and risk assessments.
• Support the development and optimisation of both surface and underground infrastructure layouts.
• Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Monitor and assess existing civil infrastructure to recommend maintenance, upgrades, or optimisation initiatives.
