Role Purpose

The Assistant Company Secretary will be responsible for ensuring that all legal entities comply with statutory, legal, and governance requirements. The successful candidate will assist with company secretarial services, manage meeting administration, and support continuous improvement within the governance function.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Process :

  • Prepare and collate information and documentation for committee and operational meetings.
  • Draft meeting agendas in consultation with relevant chairpersons.
  • Attend meetings and accurately record minutes.
  • Prepare and finalise meeting minutes for review.
  • Assist with drafting and execution of company resolutions.
  • Maintain and update company secretarial records (manual, electronic, and CIPC).
  • Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and relevant governance principles.

People :

  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate continuous professional development and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure productivity and delivery of departmental goals.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Legal Degree (essential).
  • CGISA qualification (advantageous).
  • 13 years experience in company secretarial administration.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Computer literate and detail-oriented.
