Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the heavy transportation and haulage industry, including regulations, market dynamics, and key players.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to expand the company's footprint in heavy transportation and haulage services within the region.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with clients requiring heavy transportation and haulage services, including large‑scale projects and long‑term contracts.
- Build and nurture relationships with key industry partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to enhance service offerings and capabilities.
- Lead a team of business development professionals specialized in heavy transportation and haulage, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape and growth opportunities in the heavy transportation sector.
- Drive revenue growth through effective sales strategies, pricing optimisation, and contract negotiations in the heavy transportation and haulage space.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices in heavy transportation and haulage operations.
- Develop and manage budgets for business development activities, ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining profitability.
- Prepare regular reports on business development activities, performance metrics, and key performance indicators related to heavy transportation and haulage operations.
JOB REQUIREMENT:
- Minimum Diploma in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in heavy transportation, haulage, logistics, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record in business development, sales leadership, and client acquisition within the heavy transport sector.
- Familiarity with equipment and fleet capabilities (e.g., hydraulic modular trailers, multi‑axle transporters, cranes).
- Willing to travel locally and regionally for client visits and site meetings.
- Strong market analysis, research, and reporting skills to support data‑driven decision‑making.
- Highly organized, results‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
