Key Function: Responsible in calibration activities related to force, dimension, temperature, and mass as directed by line management strictly in accordance with the Element Laboratory Management System and the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensuring personal and subordinate personnel responsibilities are discharged strictly in accordance with the Element Laboratory Management System and the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025
- Carry out routine laboratory and site equipment calibration in line with authorized technical competence
- Organization of laboratory equipment calibration to enable calibration requirements to be fully completed to the agreed time scale
- Dissemination of calibration documentation to Quality Engineers
- Ensuring reporting dates are adhered to and the timely preparation of reports
- Control of equipment identification and reporting numbers
- Promptly feeding back to the Principal Quality Assurance Manager any concerns regarding the results or service being provided
- Relaying information to the Head of Laboratory regarding any special circumstances which could affect the standard of service to be reasonably expected under the terms of a calibration contract e.g. programme acceleration, contract variations, abnormal incidence of equipment failure resulting in additional laboratory workload etc
- Inspecting testing equipment regularly for calibration currency, correct functioning and use, and ensuring its withdrawal from service if found unfit for use
- On-going monitoring of sub-ordinate personnel to ensure competence is maintained at a level consistent with the requirements of Element Laboratory Management System and the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025
- Conducting witnessed assessments as required to training technical personnel as required
- Preparing calibration reports; maintenance and control of records relating to equipment and other resources
- Ensure effective safety management within areas of responsibility through the effective implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System
- Ensure that all employees under their management are aware of all health and safety procedures and safe systems of work
- Identify specific training requirements where appropriate
- Ensure that adequate supervision is given, particularly where young or inexperienced workers are concerned
Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Experience with dimensional inspection tools
- Ability to work in laboratory environment, precision manufacturing experience would be advantage
