Job Title: Technical Business Analyst (AS400 / SICS)

Location: Singapore (onsite)
Experience: 8+ years
Role type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Technical Business Analysts with strong AS400 expertise to support a major core banking migration program. This role focuses on analysing the existing AS400-based systems, performing reverse engineering, and producing detailed technical and functional documentation to support the transition to a new COTS platform.

This is a business–technical hybrid role with no hands-on development, but deep technical understanding of AS400 applications, file structures, and integrations is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse the existing AS400 environment, including applications, programs, data models, database structures, and system workflows.
  • Perform reverse engineering of legacy AS400 components to understand current functionality, logic, and dependencies.
  • Document AS400 system behaviour, process flows, file mappings, data mappings, integration points, and business rules.
  • Work closely with architects, product teams, and vendor teams involved in the migration to a COTS platform.
  • Review legacy jobs, CL programs, RPG logic (read-only), file definitions, and batch processes to capture functional and technical details.
  • Translate technical findings into clear, structured documentation for migration and development teams.
  • Participate in walkthroughs, requirement clarification sessions, and solution discussions to ensure accurate understanding of the current system.
  • Support gap analysis, impact assessment, and mapping of legacy functionalities to new COTS product capabilities.
  • Act as a bridge between business, technology, vendor teams, and migration specialists.
  • Ensure documentation quality and completeness to support seamless knowledge transfer.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience working with AS400 technologies (CL, RPG, DB2/400 concepts, job scheduling, file structures).
  • Strong experience analysing AS400-based applications in financial services or banking environments.
  • Proven capability in reverse engineering legacy systems and producing detailed documentation such as:
    • File mappings
    • Data flow diagrams
    • Functional flows
    • Technical specifications
    • Interface documentation
  • Ability to interpret AS400 components without performing actual development.
  • Strong understanding of core banking processes, batch jobs, data models, and system dependencies.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity typical in migration projects.
Good-to-Have Skills
  • Knowledge or experience with SICS (Silverlake Integrated Card System).
  • Experience working on core banking migration projects (legacy-to-COTS).
  • Understanding of card systems, payments, or transaction processing.
  • Exposure to vendor-driven implementations (Temenos, Silverlake, Finastra, etc.).
