Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the chemical plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS) to manage process parameters during startup, normal operations, and shutdown, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
- Follow established procedures such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, and risk assessments to maintain compliance and operational integrity.
- Respond promptly to DCS alarms by analyzing deviations and executing corrective actions based on documented process guidelines.
- Provide clear instructions to field technicians to ensure seamless coordination between DCS operations and field activities, minimizing the risk of miscommunication or operational errors.
- Exhibit ownership, teamwork, integrity, and a proactive attitude in all aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Diploma or Nitec in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a DCS Operator in a chemical processing environment; experience in polymerization and/or extrusion is a plus.
- Solid understanding of chemical processing and equipment, with familiarity in ISO standards such as ISO14001, ISO9001/IATF16949, ISO45001, and SS651.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work in a rotating shift schedule within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
