Job summary

A staffing services company is seeking a DCS Operator in Singapore. The role involves managing the chemical plant’s Distributed Control System, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and coordinating with field technicians. Candidates should have a diploma in Chemical Engineering, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in a chemical processing environment. Familiarity with ISO standards is required and candidates must be willing to work on a rotating shift schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience in polymerization and/or extrusion is a plus.

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor the chemical plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS) to manage process parameters during startup, normal operations, and shutdown, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
  • Follow established procedures such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, and risk assessments to maintain compliance and operational integrity.
  • Respond promptly to DCS alarms by analyzing deviations and executing corrective actions based on documented process guidelines.
  • Provide clear instructions to field technicians to ensure seamless coordination between DCS operations and field activities, minimizing the risk of miscommunication or operational errors.
  • Exhibit ownership, teamwork, integrity, and a proactive attitude in all aspects of the role.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Nitec in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a DCS Operator in a chemical processing environment; experience in polymerization and/or extrusion is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of chemical processing and equipment, with familiarity in ISO standards such as ISO14001, ISO9001/IATF16949, ISO45001, and SS651.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work in a rotating shift schedule within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
